According to Dr. Seuss, “You can find magic wherever you look.  Sit back and relax, all you need is a book”.

There were plenty of books spanned across four large tables at the Durban Avenue School’s Family Book Bingo Night on Thursday, March 2nd.  The Hopatcong Education Association was proud to sponsor this well attended event that brought together families, staff members, and our administration in a very fun, special way to celebrate “Read Across America” and our district’s “Love of Reading” week.

All children had the opportunity shout “Bingo” by the end of the night to win their choice of 2 brand new books to take home and share with their family.  Six different prize bags were raffled off throughout the evening which included newly released books, hard cover books, and even some Dr. Seuss-themed stuffed animals.

A surprise visit from the Cat in the Hat was a highlight of the evening.  After calling a round of bingo, students and their families had the opportunity to give high-fives, hugs, and take pictures with this famous cat.

A special thanks to Mrs. Stauffer for organizing this Book Bingo event along with Mrs. DeSalvia, Mrs. Boucher, Mrs. Moschella, Mrs. Valle-Campo, Mrs. Wolf, Mrs. Strzepek, and Mrs. Kester.  Thanks also to Mr. Victor Jimenez for creating and running the bingo software program!  There were over 160 people in attendance!  All of our volunteers made this night a great success.  It was a wonderful time for all!
