As spring has finally come into focus, the fishing season on Lake Hopatcong is heating up!

There are plenty of trout here with the State having stocked twice already and are expected back again this week. In addition, the Knee-Deep Club stocked over the weekend, adding over a thousand more trout.

More than 184,000 freshly stocked rainbow trout will be available statewide, including more than 40 fishing spots across Morris County, as anglers cast their lines on the much-anticipated opening of trout season at 8 a.m. this Saturday, April 7.

On Sunday, April 22, 2018, the Knee Deep Club will hold its trout fishing contest on Lake Hopatcong. The contest will begin at 5:00 AM and conclude at 4:00 PM.

The Knee Deep Club held their first Ice Fishing contest on Sunday January 21st, under sunny skies and warm weather. The overall ice depth was between 8 and 10 inches, which was enough to support the contest safely.

As reported by Dow’s Boat Rental: The ice on average is still about 8 to 10 inches. Shorelines had opened some with the recent rain, but with the colder weather has frozen these areas again.  Be careful!
