Behind the Scenes:

Patrick HacheyHopatcong Lake Regional News had the opportunity to speak to Patrick Hachey, who in his sixth year serving as Coordinator for the summer Theater Program. “I really encourage everyone from the lake communities to come to this local Theater Performance. It cost less than a movie, and it supports these students that have been working so hard this summer.”

“I also encourage families with kids in this age group to come out, as they will be amazed at what these students in the same group can do with just a little training. Plus, I ensure the entire family will have a great time!”

How the Production is Created:

In January of this year, the production crew listed below, selected Peter Pan, Jr. as the best possible production for both the students and the audience. In July, the students started training for over 70 hours to deliver excellence that is equal to a Broadway Play. Patrick added, “We didn’t have a minute to waste, and we are blessed with a great crew this year, with 95% already having past Drama training. Most of the students are actively in other school drama programs throughout the year, and are returning students to the Summer Theater Program.”

“In our production, we allow the students to select Broadway Bound, which are the ones that want to sing, dance and act. We also have the Behind the Curtain selection for the students that want to run the lighting and set. What we find is many of the students sign up for both options.”

How they Achieve Broadway Level Performance:

BroadwayAccording to Patrick, “From day one we tell the kids, we’re very serious about what we do and we want to teach you is how to create something of great excellence. To create something of great excellence, it’s going to take hard work – but the magic that is made in creating excellence will be in direction proportion to the about of fun you are going to have.”

“This resonates will with the students and the older more experienced ones help out to ensure everyone is giving 110% to this production.”

“We are also blessed that Roxbury has always loved their performing arts programs, so the community, students and parents are very supportive.”

Bottom Line: This is Theater Production is no different than any Broadway play you are going to see. So, bring the whole family and enjoy the show!
