As we enter into the heavy 2017 boating season for Lake Hopatcong, we find that the lake level is higher than past years, which means that weed growth at this point has not been as bad in past years. But everyone around the lake knows this is only a problem that is waiting to surface.
The state Department of Environmental Protection is awarding $1.2 million in annual Clean Communities grants to Morris County and its 39 municipalities to help finance litter cleanups to beautify New Jersey’s communities and roadsides.
The museum will be open this Friday from 5:00-8:00 PM. In addition to all regular exhibits we will be featuring a special small exhibit of items found during the archaeological survey at the former Camp Tegawitha site in Hopatcong. This area is more commonly known these days as the home of the eagle’s nest.
As Posted by LHF: The Lake Hopatcong Foundation is proud to announce the winners of our 2017 scholarships; Benjamin Smith of Succasunna and Sarah O’Sullivan of Hopatcong. The foundation awards two $1,000 scholarships annually to a senior who is a resident (year-round or seasonal) of one of the four towns that border Lake Hopatcong and who plans to pursue college or trade school studies related to the lake environment or experience.
