A veteran youth camp counselor once said…“School prepares you for college. Camp prepares you for life.” The Jefferson Township Recreation Department is excited to announce that its 14th season of summer day camp at Camp Jefferson will run for 8 weeks from June 26 through August 18 in a safe and natural environment at the township’s 94-acre facility at 81 Weldon Road in Lake Hopatcong, NJ.

The Jefferson Township Museum, also known as the George Chamberlain House, will have an open house on Sunday, June 4, 2017, from 1 to 4 pm. Admission is free. Costumed docents will be available to talk about this Victorian home. The theme of this month’s exhibit is “Pteridomania: The Victorian Fern Craze.”
WORK TO BE DONE ON BOTH JEFFERSON BRIDGES STARTING EARLY SUMMER
Installation of boating navigation lights on two Lake Hopatcong bridges in Jefferson will begin in late June after approval of the project by the Morris County Board of Freeholders, with work expected to start by late June.

The Jefferson Township Recreation Department’s Karate Program will begin its next 11-week session on Monday, June 5, 2017 and continue through Monday, August 28, 2017. There will be no class on July 3 and August 21. The program is open to school age children ages Kindergarten and up as well as adults.
