Hopatcong has been without a Business Administrator for the last five months, so filling this role was key for the Hopatcong Borough Council.

Shortly after the quick dismissal of Victor Marotta in March the Borough hired the Canning Group to help find the best candidate for the position. This process and the candidates were closely reviewed and based upon their qualifications Ron Tappan was selected as the best person for the position,

Ron Tappan, served most recently as the county administrator, and also served nine years as the administrator of the Department of Central and Shared Services.

In a New Jersey Harald Article, they quoted Hopatcong Mayor Michael Francis

“The business administrator position is a vitally important one, so we took our time on purpose. We wanted to make sure that we were making the right decision, and I feel very strongly that we have."

"One of the biggest assets that Ron brings to the table is that he is already well versed in how the county is run," Francis said. "Every county has its own way of doing things, so the fact that Ron already understands all of the ins and outs means that there won't be much of a learning curve. I'm confident that this will be a very smooth transition."
