The Lake Hopatcong Foundation has canceled the 2017 Block Party, which will not be rescheduled due to the difficulty in logistics. On the other hand, the other major “Must Attend Event: Dylan’s Dinosaur Stomp Walk/Run is ON will continue using Fire House #3 for the after-race festivities.
This event has moved under the protection of Hopatcong Fire House 3 (across the street) for the after-race festivities. Registration will be still held in Modick Park under a storm proof tent. Afterwards, everyone is invited across the street to the firehouse for an afternoon of celebration.
Official Notice from the Lake Hopatcong Foundation:
It is with a very heavy heart, that we must cancel tomorrow’s 4th Annual Lake Hopatcong Foundation Block Party that was scheduled to take place at the Hopatcong State Park. After keeping a close eye on local and national weather services, we have determined that, due to the severity of Saturday’s storm, going through with the event could be a public safety concern for all involved.
Editor’s Note: During our article “Lake Hopatcong Foundation Block Party: Is handling a zillion details for your day of enjoyment” we learned of the 10 months of planning that went creating the Block Party, we feel for the LHF and the Lake Community is going to miss out on this major event in 2017.
For a small non-profit this is a difficult decision to make. The Lake Hopatcong Foundation has a host of other programs and initiatives in the works, and hope that the community will join them for the annual membership meeting to hear what is planned for the remainder of the year. The meeting will be Friday, May 19, at 7:00pm at the Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club. Please RSVP by Thursday, May 18, 2017.
