The Coming of the American Revolution - Lecture
Revolutionary War program at Main Library, June 18
Newton, NJ – The Main Library, 125 Morris Turnpike in Frankford, invites the public to join them for a fascinating look at pre-Revolutionary War New Jersey. On Tuesday, June 18 at 7:00 p.m., Dr. Jonathan Mercantini will present The Coming of the Revolution, an in-depth look at how New Jersey coped in the aftermath of the Seven Years War (French/Indian War). Learn how the legacy of that struggle, and the hardships it imposed, influenced events that lead to the American Revolution. The presentation will conclude with a question and answer period, followed by light refreshments. Jonathan Mercantini earned his Ph.D. in American History from Emory University, and is currently Acting Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Associate Professor of History at Kean University. In 2014 he worked with the New Jersey Historical Commission to plan activities for the 350th Anniversary of New Jersey. Tonight’s program is funded through a grant from the Gilder Lehrman Institute on Revolutionary History.
